Socrates Fellows

The Socrates Fellows Program—funded by the National Science Foundation as a GK-12 grant to UCSD—awards 12-month fellowships to eligible UCSD PhD students and stipends for eligible San Diego-area teachers to work together to enhance the science classroom. These pairs develop and implement compelling, inquiry-based science lessons. Socrates PhD Fellows and Teacher Partners participate in a four-week summer institute followed by a productive collaboration during the academic year.

Interested in keeping up with our fellows? We have begun publishing a quarterly newsletter to update everyone on what our fellows and teachers (past and present!) have been up to lately. Have something you want included in the newsletter? Send an update to Shelley and Johnnie. We'd love to hear from you!

Are you a teacher looking for some exciting new lessons to bring to your classroom? Socrates projects are all based on cutting-edge research happening here at UCSD. Check out all our projects, arranged by subject!

Socrates fellows have been involved in many amazing projects over the last few years! We just completed a third booth at the San Diego Science Festival. Want to see some of our past science festival projects? Click here!
