Earthquakes: CyberBridge Pilot Day 1 with Dr. Dorman
Tsunami & Snakes: Chula Vista Middle School students learn about tsunamis and whether or not animals can predict them. San Diego State scientists Rulan Clark and Clive Dorman explain their research and answer questions, while Chula Vista Middle teachers integrate fun and exciting activities to help bridge the understanding between scientist and student.
Shake That Building: CyberBridge and Chula Vista Middle School team up to teach students critical knowledge about earthquakes! Creating an earthquake simulation model, Chula Vista Middle staff challenge students with creating buildings stable enough to withstand the quake's shaking. Using different craft materials, students learn what shapes and structures fair better against this real-life natural phenomena.
Acids and Bases: CyberBridge and Castle Park Middle Pilot Day 1
Putt Putt Boats: Castle Park Middle School Students learn the basics of steam power by making miniature boats with steam engines and calculating data such as speed and distance, and converting into real life situations using algebra.
3D Molecules: San Diego State University chemistry professor Andy Cooksy and CyberBridge, help bridge the understanding of molecules to Castle Park Middle School students. Through an interactive computer program, students study the structure of molecules and then recreate them using gumdrops and toothpicks.
Scratch: Montgomery High School Students are introduced to the computer application Scratch; a digital interface, which allows students to create and manipulate the actions of a character teaching them basic techniques of animation.
Scripps Institution of Oceanography: Students and teachers from Olympian High visit Krystal Rypien, Ph.D. at Scripps Institution of Oceanography on their first day of their CyberBridge pilot.
Accessible Science: Health Sciences High and Middle College's first pilot day for CyberBridge.
Rose Creek: Mission Bay High School and CyberBridge team up to practice sampling techniques in a San Diego estuary..
Using PB Works in the Classroom: A CyberBridge science teacher from Health Sciences High describes how she and her students use wikis for their classroom assignments.
HSHMC Teachers & Students Reflect on CyberBridge Pilot: Health Sciences High & Middle College students and teachers discuss and reflect on the past three pilot days of CyberBridge.
