Ecotourism and Biodiversity

Graduate Fellow Sheila Walsh & Teacher Partner Frank Luera

San Diego is a biodiversity hotspot and its diversity of ecosystems attracts not only unique plants and animals, but tourists as well.

Details

Taking advantage of an existing Academy for Hospitality and Tourism Management program at Mt. Miguel High School, Fellow Sheila Walsh is implementing a project that engages students in local issues related to the environment and ecotourism.

The students are creating an interactive website that will inform the public about the relationship between San Diego’s coastal resources and its local economy and invite the community to rank and report on their experiences with local ecotourism outfitters.
